MARQUETTE -- In preparation for the Model-A Ford Club convention in June, the Downtown Development Authority is speeding up interest by selling Model-As that you can decorate.  The wooden cutouts were crafted by Northern Michigan University students.  You can pick them up Wednesday at the Marquette Commons between 12 and 6 p.m. Once decorated, they'll be displayed along Front, Third and Washington Streets.

"We're encouraging the public and groups, organizations, individuals to pick one up and paint it and return it and we'll display it on the light poles throughout the downtown district," said Mona Lang of the Downtown Development Authority.

The cars need to be decorated and returned to the Marquette Commons or the DDA by June 6.  The decorations cannot exceed nine pounds and cannot include offensive language or political slogans.
