LANSING (AP) -- Gov. Rick Snyder's office says he's signed legislation to make it easier for military police veterans to get civilian security jobs.
Snyder's office says the governor signed a bill sponsored by Republican state Rep. Joe Graves of Argentine Township that lets veterans' experience as military police count toward licensing requirements as private security guards.
The announcement came as Snyder's office said he has signed a batch of 17 bills. The Michigan Legislature recently finished its postelection "lame duck" session, and the newly elected Legislature takes office in January.
Other newly signed bills include measures letting the state's unemployment system collect debts from lottery players who win prizes of $1,000 or more, permitting the rehiring of retired prison workers, and expanding the misdemeanors for which public notaries can lose their licenses.
