MARQUETTE -- Marquette firefighters are keeping their skills sharp with some training for cliff rescue operations.

Firefighters geared up for a training exercise led by Captain Geoff Weston.  They learned the procedure for securing a person who had fallen down a cliff.  They used a system of ropes and pulleys to raise and lower a training dummy.

"There's a lot of climbers out there now and they've had some emergencies out there with the climbing, and we've had people ride off on bikes, too, and just hiking; they've gone off the cliff, so we have to be ready to go over the cliff and get somebody," said Weston.

Weston also said once the weather warms up, the plan is to go out to cliffs for more training.
