A 23-year-old St. Ignace man will spend four years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Shawn Marshall Brewer was sentenced on Friday by the United States District Court in the Western District of Michigan.

He pled guilty to the possession charge last November.

In 2011, Brewer was found in possession of a sawed-off 16 gauge shotgun along with knives, swords, a hatchet, a throwing star, and a 16 gauge shotgun ammunition.
