Nearly 100 Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council ski members competed in Marquette this weekend

FLORENCE -- A large group of skiers traveled all the way from Chicago to compete at Marquette Mountain this weekend.

They are members of the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council, a collection of multiple Chicago area ski clubs. The CMSC normally visits Marquette Mountain once a year. Close to adult and junior 100 skiers came this time to compete in events like slalom and giant slalom. They say the CMSC's Marquette Mountain Away Race is worth the trip, especially with such nice weather.

"It's not too cold. The sun is out. You can see everything. It's just fun skiing," said Greg Santos, the CMSC's On-Hill Coordinator.

Most of the skiers will be gone by Monday, but they plan to return again in the future.
