16-year-old student taken into custody after alleged Facebook gun threat

GOGEBIC COUNTY -- The Michigan State Police took a Wakefield-Marenisco high school student into custody on Monday after officials reported a threatening Facebook post.

According to the Michigan State Police, there was a threat indicating violence with a gun and it was targeted toward other students that had been disciplined for bullying in the last week.

Michigan State Police met and took the 16-year-old boy into custody. The student was released to probate court and his mother was contacted and met with school staff and probate court officials.

The school was not locked down or closed on Monday due to the incident.
