ESCANABA -- Bay College in Escanaba is being recognized for achieving dreams. The college was recently named a leader college as part of the "Achieving the Dream Initiative."

They're one of 65 colleges recognized.  Bay College was awarded for showcasing initiatives they've implemented to improve the college experience for students and faculty.

The president of Bay College said the school's first year experience class helped students develop better life skills.

"And we found that we have several new programs in place which have increased students' persistence and graduation rates and better GPAs," said Dr. Laura Coleman.

Bay College also undertook an initiative to provide professional development for faculty and staff.
