MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Commission received an update on a proposed playground at Presque Isle Monday night. The Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee, with the help of U.P. Engineers and Architects, outlined a tentative plan for an all inclusive playground in Marquette. The plan is to have the playground located near the Moosewood Nature Center. Funding for the playground could be the big issue. The cost could be between $600,000 and $800,000.

"You have to deal with this issue of fundraising, and we will also have to put you in the cycle of the budget session which we would determine, whether you can afford an $800,000 or $900,000 one or a $600,000 one, but that's got to be worked out with us," said Marquette City Commissioner Mike Coyne.

The Presque Isle Park Advisory Committee is also exploring grant possibilities for funding the playground. A special city commission work session is scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday.
