A light south wind behind an exiting high pressure system is bringing plenty of warm air and moisture to the U.P. in what should make for a nice weekend, but a winter storm on Sunday will change that.

Saturday's highs will be in the upper 20s to low 30s. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and winds will be light out of the south. Saturday night's lows will only fall into the mid 10s as that south wind continues. Expect more clouds at night.

Sunday will be warmer with highs climbing above 30 for the whole U.P. There should be plenty of snowmelt as most highs will reach 32 or higher, but it won't last long.

Sunday's winter storm should start dropping some snow by mid afternoon. Due to the warm temperatures and ample moisture, this should be a wet heavy snow. In the peak heat of the day, it may at times mix with rain or sleet, especially south, which will make for some treacherous driving conditions. It should last most of the night and will drop several inches of snow. Sunday night's lows will still be mild in the upper 20s, but it will be windy.

Monday will be cooler with highs reaching into the low 30s early, but as winds shift out of the northwest behind this system, it will cool down quickly for Monday night. System-related snow should transition to lake effect snow through parts of Tuesday. Monday's lows will be in the 10s.

It warms up again a bit for Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s. It will cool down again on Friday with chances for another system.

Meanwhile, the Northeast has been getting slammed with snow. As of Saturday morning, there have been reports of more than 21" of snow in Boston and more than three feet in Connecticut! I'll have updates on the Late News and on Facebook
