LANSING (AP) -- The Michigan State Waterways Commission plans to hold a special meeting to discuss the impact of low lake water levels on recreational boating.

The meeting is set for Friday at the Michigan Library and Historical Center in Lansing.

A number of lakes throughout the state are reporting low levels, including Lakes Huron and Michigan, which are at their lowest levels since record-keeping began in 1918.

And some Michigan harbors are in danger of losing their connections to open water because of low Great Lakes levels.
