Snowmobile collides with trail groomer

HIAWATHA TOWNSHIP -- A 60-year-old man was injured when his snowmobile collided with a trail groomer on Saturday, according to the Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities report that they received a call from Trail 8 near Ross Lake in Hiawatha Township regarding the crash. The snowmobiler received non-life threatening injuries according to the sheriff's department.

According to police, investigation of the incident showed that the groomer followed proper protocol and excessive speed and careless operation of the snowmobile operator were the contributing factors to the crash.
