MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is holding their second annual Media and Book Swap at the Masonic Building in Marquette from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Everyone is welcome to bring books, DVDs and CDs so you can trade with others.

UPAWS says this event is a great way for people to come together and help support the shelter.

"Babycakes is sponsoring the event, so we have all-you-can-eat sandwiches and soup for a $15 donation, and there's wine tasting, and that is great!" said UPAWS Manager, Lareuna Van Strien. "There are tons of silent auction items including iPods, iPod Shuffles, a Nook e-reader, and a lot of great local gift certificates."

Last year the Media and Book Swap raised $900 for UPAWS. This year they're hoping to raise even more money to aid the shelter.
