HANCOCK -- The Keweenaw Community Foundation in Hancock held its annual Pure Gold celebratory event Wednesday night.

The purpose of the event this year was to highlight youth in the Copper Country.

The community foundation recognized three different groups in the Keweenaw for the projects they've done.  The event was held for donors to see where their money is going and for recipients to thank the people who supported them.

Executive Director, Barbara Rose, says seeing everyone come out in support of Keweenaw youth was no surprise.

"I just know this is who this community is.  I guess I wouldn't expect it to be any different because they are always like this," said Rose.

The Keweenaw Community Foundation is a non-profit organization created to help donors make a positive impact in the community.
