Locals head to D.C. to March for Life Rally

MARQUETTE -- A group of people from the U.P. is headed to Washington, D.C. to participate in the March for Life Rally on Friday.

Up to 500,000 people from across the U.S. are expected be there.  It's a pro-life rally to raise awareness of the number of abortions since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision.
    
Two buses left St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette Wednesday afternoon.  About 100 adults and teens made the trip.

"It's a pilgrimage of penance, so the convergence of our own hearts who are going on this trip and also praying for the convergence of all hearts to seek the protection of all unborn American life," said Father Ryan Ford of St. Peter Cathedral.

"It's just something that's kind of a great opportunity to go down and witness something so moving--hundreds of thousands of people from around the country," said participant, Jamie Carter.

After Friday's rally, they'll spend Saturday sightseeing in Washington, D.C.
    
The group will be back on Sunday.
