ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- In Marquette County, traffic was stopped for a time on US-41 in Ishpeming Township after a two vehicle crash happened around noon.

The crash was blocking one lane of US-41 near County Road CJ. According to police, the driver at fault was following another vehicle too close when its driver decided to turn right.

To avoid hitting the vehicle, the driver then crossed the center line and was hit in the side by an oncoming pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. However, one of the two dogs in the vehicle was ejected. That animal died. The other dog is expected to survive.

The driver of the pickup was not injured in the crash.

No names are being released at this time.
