GLADSTONE -- A new Michigan State Police Post Commander is on the job in Gladstone.

First Lieutenant Gregory Cunningham replaces the former commander who was arrested for drunk driving.

Cunningham previously served in Gladstone as a Detective Sergeant.  His last position was that of commander of the Iron Mountain Post.

He officially transferred back to Gladstone on December 9.

The first thing on his agenda is to meet all of the troopers and work on improving their skills.  He'd also like to regain the public's trust and rebuild the reputation of the Michigan State Police.

"I just want to let the public know what a fine reputation the state police have.  We uphold these traditions and look forward to upholding our core values of excellence, integrity, and courtesy, and restoring that and abiding by those guidelines," said Cunningham.

Cunningham also plans on improving communication for state police operations in Delta and Menominee counties.
