HOUGHTON -- Michigan Tech is getting three brand new broomball score boards.

The old score boards were made of wood and had to have scores changed by hand. The new boards are electronic and weigh almost 350 pounds.

The broomball committee at Tech has been working on the project since April.  The entire project cost about $10,000 and was funded by the broomball committee.

The boards were replaced in hopes of bringing broomball at Michigan Tech into the light.

"We're excited to see and bring up the intensity and get everybody, including the fans, a lot more into the game," said Broomball Committee Chairman, George Olszewski.

Michigan Tech kicked off their first broomball game of the season with the new scoreboards at 5 o'clock Tuesday evening.
