ESCANABA -- Gun owners seeking permits to carry concealed weapons had their day in Delta County Circuit Court Tuesday. The sheriff, prosecutor, the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post Commander, and the county clerk were all in attendance.
Applicants were called by name and either approved or denied a license. They all had to submit recommendations and undergo a state approved training course.
Officials say most citizens they've dealt with respect the process.
"It's very rare, extremely rare that we have any circumstances involving concealed weapons holders in our interactions or with our officers as a safety basis. We have no instances of any kind," said 1st Lieutenant Greg Cunningham of the Michigan State Police, Gladstone Post.
Officials say the majority of applications did not have any red flags.
