HOUGHTON COUNTY -- The Girl Scout cookie season is just around the corner once again.

The Girl Scouts of the Copper Country recently had a lock-in party in Hancock to celebrate the start of the sale. The lock-in rally was put on to encourage the girls in their cookie sales.

Special activities were planned to help the girls build self confidence and beginner financial skills. The girls learned valuable skills that will not only help them sell cookies, but will help them in their lives overall.

"We build girls of courage, confidence, and character that make the world a better place," said Portage Area Girl Scout Manager Theresa Jacques. "And Girl Scouts is the premier leadership program for girls across the country."

Door-to-door cookie sales run through the end of the month, and then sales will continue through early spring at booths in designated areas.
