MUNISING -- Sunday was a pretty quiet day at Valley Spur. The lack of snow meant the free ski lessons for kids had to be canceled.

Professional cross country skier Amy Powell says she's ready for a big snow storm to pass through. Even with the small amount of snow that fell in Alger County, Powell still put on her skis and headed down a trail.

"It's very fast and icy, so I did the flatter loops and stayed away from fast, curvy down hills. But they tilled it enough and it was enough to get an edge and I felt safe. Yeah, it was fun. It looks like the temperatures are going to drop and maybe winter will come and stay. I'm, you know, I'm hopeful," said Powell.

Starting next weekend, Valley Spur will offer free ski lessons to kids ages 5 to 18.
