HANCOCK -- The City of Hancock turns 150 years old in 2013.

Each month there will be special events to celebrate the city and its history. The first event will be on Saturday at the Houghton County Arena.

An audience discussion on outdoor hockey arenas and the history of the Houghton County Arena will be featured.

David Hermanson, the event's host, says the sesquicentennial celebrations are starting off on a good foot.

"Hancock is very rich in hockey tradition, and so as a kickoff event for this sesquicentennial, it's really natural that we start out talking about hockey," said Hermanson.

The event will be on the second floor of the arena in the Wiitanen Room at 10 a.m.
