ISHPEMING -- If things were looking a little blue in Ishpeming Wednesday, there was good reason.
It was Ishpeming Hematite day. There's a banner that's now proudly displayed on the Third Street railroad overpass showing the accomplishments of the Ishpeming football team.
The Ishpeming City Council and Mayor declared Wednesday Hematite Day.
The team finished the football season, 13 and 1, and won the championship game in their division, taking home the state title.
They also won Sports Illustrated's Underdog Contest, resulting in money for the school and a trip to New York City.
