DELTA COUNTY -- The ice racing series event planned at the UP State Fair Grounds from January 12 to 13 has been postponed, according to the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"The track is currently in good condition to race right now, but with temperatures predicted to be in the upper 30's and lower 40's and rain on the way, the track will quickly deteriorate and we will not be able to make any ice this week," said Steve Masters, Director of the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Masters added that this is the second year the race has been postponed by weather conditions.

Officials with the TLR Cup Championship Ice Racing Series and the Midwest Ice Racing Association aided in the decision to postpone the race due to unsafe track conditions that could present themselves caused by the weather. Both organizations are confident that a replacement date can be scheduled.

Replacement dates for the ice racing events will be announced once they are scheduled.
