CALUMET -- People in Calumet are into the holiday spirit. Many families came out Saturday for the annual Christmas in Calumet event.

Kids got the opportunity to meet and greet with Santa. Every kid left a new knitted hat or gloves plus treats that were donated by local churches.

Carolers were on the street singing some joyful tunes, and there were also wagon rides around town.

Julia Deiro visited with Santa.  "You get to tell him like what you want for Christmas and stuff," she said.

Parent Joe Heflin said, "Well, it just brings everyone downtown, and you can actually then go through the shops and kind of see last-minute shopping.  It's just a fun time for the family and the kids."

The free event is organized by the Main Street Calumet program.
