MUNISING -- Thursday's snowfall has local business excited. The Munising Downtown Development Authority and Alger County Chamber of Commerce are welcoming the snow.

They say a number of businesses are dependant upon the snow and the business it brings. Restaurants and hotels that cater to snowmobilers and skiers are part of what keeps some local businesses running during the winter months.

"It's very important to them to have a good winter season.  In fact, the week in between Christmas and New Year's is one of the busiest weeks.  Historically, sometimes it's been the busiest week of the year," said Kathy Reynolds of the Munising DDA.  "We haven't really had much until now, so we're very excited that we've got some snow."

Munising received about seven inches of snowfall during Thursday's storm.
