CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- Wednesday evening, the Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority met to redo their recreation plan for the state.

At the meeting they heard from Chocolay Township parties on where the core trail should be located. The committee decided the rural railroad grade would remain the core spine of the trail in Chocolay Township, but they also decided to have the urban route off of US-41 as the alternate route.

"It's just a matter of who's going to pay for the maintenance really.  Precedence set with the Iron Ore Heritage Trail that we stay on one trail and that would stay true to being a spine of the trail that we would work with our municipal partners to help build their communities," said Carol Fulsher, Administrator of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail.

Now the committee will meet with Chocolay Township to discuss where signage will be placed.
