LANSING (AP) -- A spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Snyder says a bill that would allow people to carry concealed weapons in schools and churches will be carefully reviewed before he decides whether to make it law.

The House gave final approval Friday to legislation that says someone who gets extra training could be allowed to have a concealed weapon in a gun-free zone.

Spokeswoman Sara Wurfel says the governor believes mass shootings like the one Friday that left 26 people -- including 20 children -- dead at a Connecticut elementary school "must and should give pause."

But Wurfel says Snyder doesn't want to jump to conclusions.

The bill would allow schools to opt out. It also would put county sheriffs in charge of concealed-weapons applications instead of local boards.
