NORWAY -- People in Dickinson County can embrace the holiday spirit this weekend with the Nutcracker ballet performance in Norway.

The Nutcracker ballet is based on the story of a young German girl who dreams of a prince.  The Dickinson Ballet Company and Northern Michigan Dance Academy put together the performance.  They held their first one Wednesday for the students of Norway Elementary.

"The story is magical. The dancing is vibrant and exciting and beautiful, and it just wouldn't be Christmastime without the Nutcracker, so we try to do it as often as possible," said co-director, Beth Provencher.

The performances are Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 12 and under are free.
