MUNISING -- One person is dead following an accident Wednesday morning near the City of Munising.
Two cars were involved in the accident. It happened around 7:30 a.m. near the Holiday Inn Express on M-28, commonly known as the Forest Inn Hill.
According to the Michigan State Police, Sarah Gunderson, 25, was traveling on M-28 in a Ford Focus when she was hit by an oncoming Pontiac G6 driven by Richard Vanverschaegen, 31.
The police reported that their investigation indicated that Vanverschaegen's vehicle crossed the centerline. Gunderson, from Thompson, North Dakota, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Vanverschaegen was taken to Marquette General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
