MARQUETTE -- The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center opened a new photography exhibit Tuesday showing the talents of one local artist.

It's called Visual Textures.  U.P. native Cindy Larson has collected some of her finest photos that show the wildlife and landscapes of the area.  Many of the photos were taken in and around Marquette.  Organizers say she has captured the feel of the U.P.

"The show is really a delicate, lovely show. Cindy named the show Visual Textures because that's what she captures in her photographs--textures of snow--so she's really wonderful at seeing those textures in the natural landscape...a very unique photographer," said Arts and Culture Director, Tiina Harris.

Larson won a best in show award in 2010 at the Lake Superior Art Association show.

She'll be at the Arts and Culture Center Thursday for the opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
