UPPER PENINSULA -- Cold northwest winds over Lake Superior will result in lake effect snow into tonight. Gusty winds will also produce blowing and drifting snow near Lake Superior. Snow will diminish from west to east later today, ending late tonight over eastern Upper Michigan.

A Lake Effect Snow WARNING remains in effect until 10 p.m. EST this evening for Alger and Northern Schoolcraft county. The National Weather Service expects 5" to 8" of snow to fall there today, making roads snow covered and slippery. Also, visbility will be sharply reduced in areas of heavy snow.

Lake Effect Snow advisories have been issued for other Upper Michigan areas. For the latest details on any warnings, watches, and advisories, click on your local area using the interactive map found on the left side of this page.
