MARQUETTE -- The Bonanza Steakhouse in Marquette Township honored veterans with a free meal Sunday, and many veterans and active duty military personnel took advantage of the deal.

There was a free salad bar and free beverages, along with several entrée items.  The restaurant set up displays honoring veterans classified as missing in action or prisoners of war.  There was also a "Thank You Banner" that invited all passing veterans to sign their name.

Boy Scout Troop 309 also leant a hand by helping veterans carry their trays to their seats.

"It's just one way to thank all the vets and all the people who have done so much for this country," said Bonanza owner, Mitch Lazeren.

This is a new event for Bonanza, and they're looking to do it again next year.
