MARQUETTE -- Marquette Mountain was packed wall to wall with kids and their families Saturday.

The third annual Ski and Snowboard Safety event taught kids how to ski safely. The first 135 kids also received a free ski helmet, but this year was bigger than ever, and there weren't enough helmets to go around.

The event is organized by Marquette General Hospital's Women and Children's program which hosts several safety programs throughout the year.

"I am so pleased that so many families are so interested in keeping their children safe when they're out on the slopes this year," said Cynthia Ampe of the Women and Children's program.

The safety event is funded by the Kohl's Cares program.

This year, Kohl's donated more than $24,000 to the Women and Children's program.
