MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- A two-car crash on US-41 in Marquette Township Thursday afternoon sent two women to the hospital. It happened just before 1:30 p.m. in front of 41 Lumber.

Police say 72-year-old Karen Korpi of Gwinn pulled out of the entrance/exit at Lowe's into the path of an SUV driven by a 39-year-old Marquette woman, identified as Jamie Weigold. Korpi had to be extricated from her vehicle. She and her 23-year-old passenger, Nicole Young, were taken to Marquette General Hospital.

There's no word on the extent of their injuries. The Marquette woman who was driving the SUV was treated on the scene.

Korpi was cited for failing to yield.
