IRONWOOD -- An American Idol finalist is making her way to Ironwood this weekend.

Amanda Overmyer will be performing in a concert at the Historic Ironwood Theater on Saturday. She finished in eleventh place on season seven of the popular show. The concert will all be part of the second annual HIT Idol, a local American idol-style music contest.

HIT Idol features 44 finalists ages 10 to 24 that will perform at the theater on Friday at 7 p.m.

"It's just a wonderful opportunity for our communities to come together," said HIT Idol music director Janie Williams. "Just seeing the interaction between the kids is just fantastic. It's a very positive experience for all of us."

All 44 finalists will perform again on Saturday as Amanda Overmyer's back up singers. The six winners will also perform before Overmyer performs.

Saturday's concert begins at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending the concert, check out the website here for information.
