Annual harvest dinner focuses on buying local
Northern Michigan University students enjoyed their annual harvest dinner and learned about the importance of buying local Wednesday night.
The harvest dinner is an annual tradition put on by NMU dining services.
This year they've decided to make sure the students know just how much locally grown food they use in their operations.
"This year we decided to take the harvest dinner and turn it into an outreach and educational opportunity to tell our student body about what ways dining services is sustainable in our daily practices," said NMU's dining services marketing director Stephanie Raboin.
Students also had a chance to pledge to help make themselves and NMU more sustainable.
The dinner was open to the public and the cost was $9.50 per person.
