MARINETTE, WI -- The 55-year-old Marinette County man facing homicide charges pled not guilty in Marinette County Court Tuesday.

Police arrested Richard Heyer last month for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 51-year-old Ann Schueller, at a gas station in Wausaukee.  Heyer pled not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

The court ordered him to undergo a mental examination and scheduled a status conference for November 13.

Heyer, who is from Crivitz, is charged with first degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
