MARQUETTE -- Fundraisers are usually loud, energetic and full of activities.  That wasn't the case at Northern Michigan University Sunday.  It was more meditating and relaxing for the first ever Yogathon.

The theme, "Strike a Pose Against Cancer," brought together some 75 women and a few men for over five hours of yoga at the PEIF building.  To get involved, all you needed was a donation of five dollars or a new or gently used bra.

The cash and items go to the Marquette County Health Department's screening program for cervical and breast cancer.

There were three sessions, ranging from the gentle basics to yoga groove.  This event was open to anyone, from beginner to experienced, and gave the individual a good feeling inside and out.

"People are all in really good spirits and come and help out. That it is more than physical benefits; it's the whole mind, body, spirit benefits as well," said event organizer, Grace Petschauer.

Organizers say with the success seen Sunday, the event will be back next year.
