MARQUETTE -- Northstar Academy is holding a fundraising dinner and auction to help offset the cost of a new classroom. The event will feature a silent and live auction. The items up for bid were donated by local businesses.

Northstar completed construction on a new arts and culture room for the 2012 school year.

The money raised at the dinner and auction will help with the cost of that new room.

"We've had tremendous community support. Everything is donated. We have about 40 silent auction items, 50 raffle items, we'll have a live auction of gift baskets, theme baskets that the individual classes have put together. So it's really going to be quite an extensive drawing and event," said Karen Anderson, CEO, Northstar Academy.

The construction of the arts and culture room cost the school $93,000.

The fundraiser gets underway at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Marquette. Tickets are $40.
