Man sentenced for operating meth lab

MARQUETTE -- Eighteen months in prison, that was the sentence handed down to the Ishpeming man charged with operating a meth lab in May.

Twenty-nine-year-old Robert Fields and his wife, Niko Lena, were arrested after Ishpeming police and UPSET teams executed a search warrant on their house.

Police found methamphetamine as well as components for a meth lab.

Fields faced three counts of making and delivering meth while his wife faced one count.

The court does have to consider needs of the community as well as the reformation of yourself and deterrents of others in engaging in similar behavior, so given all that it is, the sentence in judgment of the court, Mr. Fields, that you be sentenced to a term of imprisonment, the minimum of which I will set at 18 months," said Marquette County Judge Thomas Solka.

Fields did receive credit for time served. He has one year left on his sentence.
