HOUGHTON -- There's a $1.2 million dollar deficit within the BHK Child Development organization.

A management team from the Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) is currently in place to help address the issues facing the non-profit organization.

During a board meeting held on Thursday, the CCISD’s Superintendent, Dennis Harbour, said expenses were not reduced when grant revenues were terminated.

"We've had three financial directors in nine months, and the problem is there really was no financial oversight. That's a real issue. The financial directors resigned for whatever reason. The proper financial facts were not reported," said Harbor.

The board also held a closed session to discuss job cuts.

Harbour says cuts have to be made in order for BHK to survive. A new BHK director will be announced early next week.
