ESCANABA -- Instead of going door-to-door, some trick or treaters and their parents were opting for a quicker, more efficient way to get just as much candy on Halloween night.

It's called trunk or treat, and it's the annual Halloween celebration that's put on at Silver Winds Church in Escanaba.  The event is free to the public, thanks to donations from area businesses, individuals, and Silver Winds Church volunteers.

Reverend Art Radlicki says a couple thousand people take part in the three hour trick or treating.

"It's been pretty successful.  It's been great; just being able to see the enthusiasm and the excitement, and each year we add a little bit more.  We have our police dog here this particular year, so it's been pretty exciting to see," said Radlicki.

This year seems to have the biggest turnout in recent years, despite the very cold weather.
