Church organ is refurbished and rededicated Sunday
MARQUETTE -- The Sunday church service at Messiah Lutheran in Marquette had extra meaning Sunday.
Reverend Amanda Kossow asked for a blessing of the new and improved church organ, "Send your blessing upon us and upon this refurbished organ, which rededicate to your praise and glory."
The Casavant Pipe Organ was built in 1977 in Quebec Canada. It took over two months of restoration work to bring it up to today's standards with a completely digital console.
The organ, with 34 ways to create sounds and its hundreds of pipes, is the foundation of the congregation's services.
"Music is our means, you know, it's the language of the heart, you know it's the way that we express our deepest feelings and thoughts," says Pastor Dave Van Kley of Messiah Lutheran Church.
It took a week to reinstall the organ in the church. The current church organist is Kathy Strasinski.
