NEGAUNEE -- Senior citizens in Negaunee had the chance to meet a handful of candidates running for public office.

The meet and greet took place at the Negaunee Senior Center.  Some of the candidates present were running for Marquette County Probate Judge and the 109th District State House seat.

There were no speeches or prepared remarks, just face-to-face time during lunch.  Organizers say the event offers seniors a chance to get to know the candidates while in a comfortable environment.

"A little easier for them, more informal.  Also, with all of those political ads cluttering their judgment, they actually get to talk to the human being running for the position," said Negaunee Senior Center Director, Kristy Basolo.

The center offers a weekly lunch on Wednesdays.
