GWINN -- Some parents went to school in Sawyer Monday to learn about the health of their children. Representatives from the Health Care Institute were teaching from a book about how to improve health care knowledge in the home. The goal of the program is to help parents better determine the nature of certain ailments and the best course for treatment.
"The program is designed to help families understand health care better, and help understand when their child is sick and in need of the care of a doctor, and when it's something they can just treat at home," said Education Coordinator for Head Start, Corey Holcomb.
In addition to informational materials, participants also received raffle prizes. The program is a national initiative backed by Johnson & Johnson as well as UCLA.
