ESCANABA -- Bay College in Escanaba celebrated its 50th birthday Saturday. Fifty years ago, the community passed a millage so that a community college could be established.
The birthday celebration invited all alumni and members of the community to see what Bay College has to offer after 50 years.
Every building had something to show, and many demonstrations brought people outside, like a cider press demonstration using apples grown on campus.
Bay College also had free lunch and carriage rides around the campus.
Several hundred people came for the celebration.
"It is absolutely fantastic," said Laura Coleman, President of Bay College. "When you schedule these things, you never know how many people are going to come. But we have lots and lots of people here today, and that is really exciting to have the community on the campus, seeing what we do."
Since it was founded, Bay College has given more than 13,000 degrees and certificates to over 10,000 students.
