HOUGHTON -- Michigan Technological University students are celebrating homecoming this week with their annual parade.

Students dressed in yellow and black as they walked through downtown Houghton with crowds of people enjoying the parade.

It's a tradition that's been going on for more than half a century with floats, various clubs, and, of course, the band, all getting into the Husky spirit.

"I think homecoming is just one of those events that Tech puts on for all of our students that really gets everybody involved," said homecoming court candidate Corinne Green. "We're up in the middle of nowhere; it gets really cold, so it's just one of those ways to get everybody involved and super excited about things. It's just a way for us to go out and be absolutely ridiculous like Tech students are. It shows off our true colors I think."

On Saturday, Michigan Tech's football team will play against Northwood University.
