BARAGA -- The Village of Baraga Treasurer has been arrested on embezzlement charges.

On Thursday, Cynthia Wadaga was arraigned in Baraga District Court.

Wadaga is charged with embezzling more than $20,000, but less than $50,000 from First Choice Autobody in L'Anse. This is a felony charge that carries a 10 year prison sentence or a $15,000 fine if convicted.

The 45 year old worked at the auto shop for two years. L'Anse Village Police arrested Wadaga on Wednesday, but she is now out on a $500 bond.

She'll be back in court for a preliminary hearing October 23.
