MARQUETTE -- Northern Michigan University students had a chance to explore their career opportunities at the annual Fall Jobs Fair Wednesday afternoon. More than 50 employers set up shop inside NMU's University Center. They were on hand offering information on part-time and full-time jobs. The Jobs Fair has been giving NMU students and alumni a chance to make face-to-face connections with potential employers for 45 years.
"We've had students report to us they have interviews after the jobs fair, some of them will even tell us they've been hired right on the floor," said Assistant Director of NMU Career Services Steven LaFond. "If you talk to the employers, you can see that we have some pretty good students because they come here year after year."
A handful of local organizations received awards for their longtime participation in the jobs fair. NMU holds four Jobs Fairs per year as well as a number of workshops for students.
