CALUMET -- Over 200 Washington Middle School students dressed in orange.

Wednesday is Unite Against Bullying Day, and the idea to have the entire middle school participate by wearing orange came from Mr. Cotey's eighth grade students. They want to let everyone know bullying will not be tolerated at the Calumet, Keweenaw and Laurium Schools.

"Bullying is an issue in every school in the country. It's no worse here than anywhere else, but it's important for those being bullied to know that they're not alone. It's important for awareness for adults that it’s going on," said Clay Cotey, eighth grade science teacher at Washington Middle School.

As the students piled into the commons with their orange attire, they also posed for a picture.

The school says they have very comprehensive programs in place if bullying occurs.
